Cetona is perhaps the quintessential
medieval hill town. Famous for its vineyards and ancient olive groves, Cetona is an
ideal base for visiting the many charming villages of southern Tuscany and Umbria. Siena, Montalcino, Orvieto, and Assisi are just a short drive away. But it is not necessary to have a car here. Bus service links Cetona to the train station in the Etruscan town of Chiusi, worth visiting for its wonderful archaeological museum and charming cathedral. Travel by rail to Florence (1.5 hrs) or to Rome (1 hr). And if you want to do a little exploring by car, you can arrange a rental just for a day or two.
Villa Ortensia is located in the historical center of Cetona, just a few steps from the main piazza of the village, where you will find coffee bars, restaurants and shops. The house has been recently restored, maintaining its original charm with terracotta floors and vaulted or beamed ceilings. Windows offer fantastic views of Mount Cetona and its beautiful valley.
Villa Ortensia is set in a large garden with one pergola in front of the kitchen; another pergola with a BBQ is tucked into a secluded corner. A stairway connects the garden with a terrace on which there is a hydromassage tub with a panoramic view. Nearby is a small table and bench. This is a place to enjoy complete peace and relaxation. A small summerhouse on this side of the garden has one double bedroom and bathroom.
The property is on the ground and second floors of an old palazzo, whose windows look out over a private part of the garden.
