How many hours do you need in Lucca?
Half a day is enough to walk the center, see the main churches and climb the Guinigi Tower, which is what our Introduction to Lucca tour covers. With a full day you can also cycle or walk the top of the city walls, about 4 km around.
What are the must-see things in Lucca?
Walk or cycle the Renaissance walls, climb the Guinigi Tower with the oak trees on top, see Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, built on the shape of a Roman amphitheater, and visit the Cathedral of San Martino. Lucca is also the birthplace of the composer Giacomo Puccini.
Is Lucca nicer than Pisa?
They are very different. Pisa is worth a few hours for the Leaning Tower and the Field of Miracles. Lucca is a lovely walled town to spend time in, quieter and very easy to enjoy, which is why we recommend the villas in the hills around Lucca for longer stays. They are only about 30 minutes apart, so you can see both.
When is the market in Lucca?
