Casa Cau
Rates: Available upon request
An impeccably-designed townhouse in the heart of Rome. Decked out with vintage finds, CasaCau offers secluded and surprisingly peaceful boutique apartments in the centre of Rome in 17th-century building just steps from the Trevi fountain. Guests immediately feel they are staying somewhere special as the space is carefully designed.
Each of the six apartments has its own individual style but all offer modern amenities as well as retro elements. CasaCau combines vintage furniture, antique typewriters, Turkish baths with docking stations for iPads, WiFi and other technological amenities.
Helpful and well-informed hosts have curated the seriously alla moda Sixties-inspired crash pads, of the kind flamboyant Italian fashion dames Anna Dello Russo or Anna Piaggi would approve of, using dramatic fresco-printed headboards, era-spanning art prints, a sprinkling of antique trinkets, and turquoise and tangerine-hued mid-century modern kitchenettes for self-catering flexibility.
