About This Villa

Once a country residence for several Italian aristocratic families, this four-storey estate above Siena was restored over two years and now reads as a private property with its own staff. The arrival is a cypress-lined drive that ends at an entrance court. Inside, four floors of restored interiors hold eight bedrooms, plus a private wellness suite with sauna, a small gym, and a clay tennis court at the side of the formal garden. The layout suits a large group that wants both the public rooms for long dinners and the private upper floors for quiet. A daily housekeeper and a kitchen team are part of the lease, which is how the estate has always been run. Siena is twenty minutes by car; the Crete Senesi backroads start at the property gate.

This classical style villa is ideal for large groups of friends or families looking for the perfect balance between tradition, quality and comfort. The interior spaces, as well as the grounds, are sprawling. The location is the perfect base from which to explore the best Tuscan landmarks and cultural highlights, and it is one of the top locations for food and wine lovers, being Siena, Montalcino, Pienza and the Brunello area nearby.

Ground floor: the spacious social spaces, like the rest of the villa, are elegantly furnished with original paintings, luxury fabrics, hand-crafted antiques and family heirlooms. They feature original floor tiles, as well as architectural details such as stone fireplaces and painted walls soaring to high ceilings. The spaces exude the effortless elegance of the patrician Tuscan country look. On this floor, the entrance hall with beautiful coffered ceiling, grand piano and seating arrangements spread out the expansive room, formal dining room that seats up to 22 people, adjacent fully equipped Tuscan-style kitchen, smaller drawing room with comfortable red velvet seating area, guest bathroom.

Reading/TV room with upholstered sofa, chairs and antiques; additional large living room with comfortable seating centered on a large antique rug.

A/C in all bedrooms, heating, Wi-fi, fireplaces, dishwasher, washing machine, satellite TV with Sky cable, DVD player, stereo/CD player, piano, foosball table, BBQ, wood-burning pizza oven, private tennis court, swimming pool (5 x 14 m), sauna, gym, organic vegetable garden, wide private parking.

Panoramic bedroom with two French beds (130cm wide each), TV and en-suite bathroom with shower/tub

All bedrooms have air conditioning, all the bathrooms are provided with hair dryers

Immerse yourself into the green beauty of the Tuscan countryside. Manicured landscape surrounds Il Cardinale and protects the guests’ privacy from indiscreet eyes. Set in one of the villa lawns, the swimming pool is a refreshing spot where to spend some time during the sunny hours.

The more active guests can enjoy friendly games at the private tennis court or endure some work-out sessions in the equipped gym. In the villa courtyard a large patio is set up with large umbrellas for alfresco dining.
