Nestled in the countryside near Trapani, Villa Aieri is a charming hideaway boasting stunning mountain views, yet it's a mere 7 kilometers from the sandy beache
A semi-detached country house in the hills behind Trapani, owned by the same family since the 1800s. The renovation is recent but light — the original tile, the thick walls, the single-flight staircase that ends at a roof terrace. The villa looks west across the Marsala plain, with the mountains behind. Cornino beach is seven kilometres downhill; the medieval hilltop town of Erice is twenty minutes up the road; Segesta's Greek temple is forty minutes east; the Salt Pans and Mozia archaeological site west of Marsala are within an hour. Sicily's western coast is the quietest and least touristed of the island's three coasts, which is the reason to come here rather than to Taormina. Best for travellers who want Sicily without the Sicily itinerary.
