About This Villa
La Poggiolaia is a hilltop farmstead in Certaldo, in the heart of Tuscany's so-called golden triangle between Florence, Siena and Pisa, with views across olive groves toward the towers of San Gimignano. Owner Paola has personally restored every apartment — marble, tiles, light fixtures, antique family furniture — and the result is a relaxed, atmospheric, lived-in place that feels nothing like a hotel.
All five apartments share the same Mediterranean-style swimming pool with Roman steps, set in the garden at the centre of the property. Each apartment has its own private entrance and outdoor terraces. The hilltop position catches the cross-breeze; the interiors carry Tuscan-coloured walls, terracotta floors, and Baroque mirrors that the family has had for generations.
Lavanda is a two-storey apartment for four, with both bedrooms on the upper floor — useful if the ground level is the social space and the upper level is the quiet one. The ground floor has the living room with kitchenette and exits to two outdoor areas; both upstairs bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and can convert from doubles to twins.
