Villa Danica

A beautifully designed Tuscan estate above the Castelfalfi golf course, with a 13.5-metre infinity pool and a dedicated playroom annex.

5 Beds
5 Baths
10 Guests

About This Villa

Villa Danica sits in the hills above Montaione, between Florence and the Tyrrhenian coast, on a property meticulously restored to balance the original Tuscan stone-and-brick structure with a soft, monochromatic palette and splashes of contemporary colour. The view from the infinity pool runs across the Castelfalfi golf course and the rolling forest beyond.

Five en-suite bedrooms accommodate ten guests across the main villa, with a separate annex that holds the playroom — pool table, table football, kitchenette, and a living area — a clubhouse away from the main house for the teenagers (or anyone who wants a quieter corner). Outside: a 5 × 13.5 m infinity pool, a loggia with a long gas BBQ and pizza oven, a bocce court, and olive trees through the garden. Florence is one hour ten, San Gimignano thirty-five minutes, and Versilia's beaches are within easy reach for a day trip.

Chianti

Cooking class at a Chianti farmhouse

A nonna and a long wooden table. Fresh pici, ribollita, tiramisu, and a bottle of the house red. Half a day, ending with the meal you made.

Chianti

Truffle hunt with dogs

An hour east toward Casentino with a truffaio and his Lagotto Romagnolo. Two hours of slow walking in the woods, then truffle pasta for lunch at the farm.

Chianti

Drive the Strada Chiantigiana (SR222)

The two-lane road from Florence to Siena that threads through every postcard view of Chianti. Sixty kilometres, half a day if you stop for lunch, a whole day if you stop for tastings.

Olive harvest at a family frantoio

Late October and early November. Pick olives in the morning, watch them go into the press in the afternoon, taste the green-gold oil within hours of pressing.

A morning at the Greve market

Saturday and Tuesday mornings in Piazza Matteotti. Cheeses, cured meats, fresh ricotta, vegetables from the surrounding farms — the building block of every great Tuscan dinner.
