Villa Maria Serena is an eighteenth-century lakeshore mansion on the eastern shore of Lake Como, in Blevio — three miles from the city of Como and directly across the water from the Grand Hotel Villa d'Este. The villa is suspended over the lake itself, and large windows, French doors, a balcony, a terrace and a private boat deck mean every room watches the water.
Across the garden and roof floors are six en-suite bedrooms (sleeps 12): four with king/twin beds and two with queen beds, most with private balconies and lake views, all with their own bathrooms. The lakeshore level holds a frescoed entrance hall, a salon with a 1900 Blutner Grand piano, a dining room with a double decorative fireplace opening onto the lakeshore terrace, and a fully equipped modern kitchen with a winter-garden patio. The roof floor has a frescoed cupola with its own balcony.
Outdoors: a private rectangular heated swimming pool (12 × 3 m) sits on its own lawn above the water, with panoramic, unobstructed views of Lake Como — ideal for sunsets. Seven acres of nineteenth-century parkland surround the property, restored by the celebrated ballerina Maria Taglioni in the early 1800s. A thousand feet of exclusive lake shoreline runs along the foot of the estate, with a private dock and a courtesy speedboat for guests.
A private gate in the property wall opens onto the harbour square of Blevio — old church, vaporetto dock, a small public waterfront park and a gourmet restaurant within a six-minute walk. The villa is fully staffed: a butler and a chef are at your disposal six days per week, with breakfast 8:30–10:30 am, lunch 12:30–2:00 pm and dinner 7:30–9:30 pm.
Villa Maria Serena shares the estate with its sister Villa Maria Taglioni. Both can be booked together as the entire estate for larger groups — interconnected lakefront villas separated by a small historic harbour flanked by ancient terracotta statues.

The most cinematic of the lake's villas, reachable only by water. The gardens, the loggia, the rooms exactly as they were when the last owner left them.

Mistral at Villa d'Este on the water for the Michelin night out. Il Gatto Nero in Cernobbio above the lake (long the favourite of George Clooney and most of his neighbours) for the more local one.
