Villa Maria Taglioni Estate is the combined rental of both sister villas on the eastern shore of Lake Como — Villa Maria Taglioni and Villa Maria Serena, taken together as one private waterfront estate. They sit side by side, interconnected, in seven acres of gated parkland, three miles from Como and directly across the lake from the Grand Hotel Villa d'Este.
Each villa has its own front door, its own staff and its own personality. Villa Maria Taglioni is the grand neoclassical one — frescoed entrance hall, a music room with a 1911 Steinway blond-wood Grand piano, a kidney-shaped heated pool curving into the hillside with a waterfall at one end, a wellness area with equipped gym, sauna and Turkish bath, and an elevator to all floors. Villa Maria Serena is the more intimate one — suspended over the water, every room watching the lake, a frescoed salon with a 1900 Blutner Grand piano, a frescoed cupola with central balcony, and a rectangular heated pool (12 × 3 m) above the water.
Between them sits a small historic harbour flanked by ancient terracotta statues. Together the estate has fourteen en-suite bedrooms (sleeps twenty-eight), thirteen bathrooms, two private docks with two courtesy speedboats, two heated pools, and a thousand feet of exclusive lake shoreline.
The estate sits down a quarter-mile gated road guarded by a quaint old gatehouse. A private gate in the property wall opens onto the harbour square of Blevio — old church, vaporetto dock, a small public waterfront park and a gourmet restaurant within a six-minute walk. For arrivals by air, the International Como Aeroclub seaplane base is three miles away — direct seaplane connections to Saint Moritz, Venice or Capri.
The two residences were restored in the early nineteenth century by the celebrated Swedish ballerina Maria Taglioni, who welcomed Bellini, Rossini, Franz Liszt, Ricordi and Giuditta Pasta in these rooms. Both villas have been beautifully refurbished, magnificently decorated with frescoes and furnished with antiques from the owner's collection.
Each villa is fully staffed: Villa Maria Taglioni has a resident butler, a chef and a grounds team; Villa Maria Serena has a butler and a chef. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served six days per week (cost of food extra). The two villas can also be rented separately if you only need one.

Lake Como
A morning on a 1960s mahogany Riva or a modern Cantiere replica. Coffee on the Tremezzo lakefront, a stop at Villa del Balbianello, lunch at La Punta in Bellagio, swim stops between.
Lake Como
The most cinematic of the lake's villas, reachable only by water. The gardens, the loggia, the rooms exactly as they were when the last owner left them.
Lake Como
Mistral at Villa d'Este on the water for the Michelin night out. Il Gatto Nero in Cernobbio above the lake (long the favourite of George Clooney and most of his neighbours) for the more local one.
Lake Como
Botanical gardens that have been the standard for two hundred years. Azaleas in May, lemons in June, oleanders in July.
Lake Como
Como has been Europe's silk capital since the 1500s. A morning workshop at a family silk house — printing, weaving, or scarves — at one of the producers our concierge knows.
