Villa Silvana sits on the shoreline of Lake Como just outside Torno, on the lake's eastern shore — a four-storey neoclassical villa of about 550 square metres, the crown jewel of a row of historic houses between Torno and Como itself. The villa can be reached by car or by boat directly to the dock.
Across the ground floor: a veranda-living room, a dining room that seats 14 to 16, a large fully equipped kitchen with granite worktops, two dishwashers, gas cooker, oven and microwave, a guest bathroom, the laundry room, the personal elevator, and a wondrous Carrara marble staircase to the upper floors. Art nouveau furniture and lake views throughout.
The first floor (sleeps 6) holds the master suite with a private terrace and two further double bedrooms — all three en-suite. Liberty-style furnishings, a sitting room with fireplace and satellite TV, all bedrooms with private wardrobes and satellite TV. The second floor (sleeps 8) has the remaining four en-suite double bedrooms. An independent shore-house bedroom adds two more guests.
The waterside terrace holds the heated swimming pool (4 × 8 m), built with multiple depth levels so it's child-friendly, with an integrated hydromassage area. A lakeside gazebo provides shade for al fresco meals; a covered neoclassical veranda picks up dining whenever the weather turns. The playroom has a ping-pong table and a foosball table. The private dock at the water's edge makes the villa equally accessible by boat.
Torno itself is a quiet historic village a short walk from the gate — local shops, restaurants, the ferry dock that connects across the lake to Moltrasio and onward to Como, Cernobbio (Villa d'Este) and Bellagio.

Lake Como
A morning on a 1960s mahogany Riva or a modern Cantiere replica. Coffee on the Tremezzo lakefront, a stop at Villa del Balbianello, lunch at La Punta in Bellagio, swim stops between.
Lake Como
The most cinematic of the lake's villas, reachable only by water. The gardens, the loggia, the rooms exactly as they were when the last owner left them.
Lake Como
Mistral at Villa d'Este on the water for the Michelin night out. Il Gatto Nero in Cernobbio above the lake (long the favourite of George Clooney and most of his neighbours) for the more local one.
Lake Como
Botanical gardens that have been the standard for two hundred years. Azaleas in May, lemons in June, oleanders in July.
Lake Como
Como has been Europe's silk capital since the 1500s. A morning workshop at a family silk house — printing, weaving, or scarves — at one of the producers our concierge knows.
Lake Como
Take the boat to Varenna, the train up to Tirano, and the Bernina railway up into the Swiss Alps. Lunch at altitude, back to the villa by dinner.
On the eastern shore of Lake Como, just outside the village of Torno — a four-storey neoclassical lakefront villa reachable by car or by boat directly to the dock. Como is ten minutes by car or ferry.
